About Patrick

My name is Patrick, Clinical Social Worker/Owner of Insightful Minds Counseling, LLC. I identify as a cisgender man and pansexual or queer. I received my Master in Social Work, Clinical Concentration, from the top 20 percent ranked social work program at Saint Louis University. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in Illinois and Missouri.

I have 8+ years of experience, beginning my career working with adolescents in schools and residential treatment facilities. Then, I transitioned to community-based social work providing crisis response, individual, and family therapy to run away/unhoused youth and their families. As my work was always centered around the effects of trauma, my transition to individual trauma therapy came naturally. I developed specialized skills working with victims of domestic and sexual violence and the LGBTQ+ community at a community agency that is locally sought out as the expert in domestic and sexual violence. Over the past four years, I have been elevating my skills and experience in private practice.

I have developed, improved, and promoted LGBTQ+ programming for multiple agencies with which I was employed. Transitioning to private practice has allowed me to focus on the intersection of trauma/PTSD and the LGBTQ+ identity and experience.

I genuinely love the profession of Social Work. To me, social work has always been more part of who I am than just what I do. I have a particular passion and regard for Clinical Social Work. My naturally curious nature lends well to the clinical side of social work. I am captivated by the complexities of human behavior and always seek opportunities to learn and grow in this knowledge and experience.

I have significant experience with: PTSD/Trauma, EMDR, LGBTQIA+ (sexuality/gender), Relationship Violence, Curriculum Building, and Training.

My work with LGBTQ+ programming, Safe Zones, Professional Training and Presentations, and local advocacy have equipped me with the knowledge and experience to provide support in the community. I have been in several different roles including clinical supervisory roles, clinical consultant roles, volunteer, community member, and more. I am both Safe Zone Trained and trained as a Safe Zone Trainer. Please contact me for interest in trainings, consultations, and presentations on or related to the LGBTQ+ community, experience, and the intersection of trauma.
